37 Weeks
Well, today I had an ultrasound and an OB appointment. The ultrasounds are always fun...and Olivia is currently weighing somewhere around 6 pounds, 14 ounces. She was practicing breathing and her heart rate was perfect! The only thing that wasn't so great was that the amniotic fluid is low. I guess over 8 cm of fluid is "normal" and below 5 cm is considered considerably low. My amniotic fluid is measuring 6 cm..in what Dr. Caplan termed the "gray zone". SO, Walker and I are going in for an ultrasound Saturday morning and if the fluid is still low, she wants to deliver her Saturday afternoon. At this point, I'm still kind of stunned! Walker and I are really really excited at the prospect of meeting her...but, I'm really nervous about the maturity of her lungs and if everything will be okay..
I will say that no one should ever question their intuition. Last week I remarked to Dr. Caplan that Olivia hadn't been moving as much as she used to...Sometimes, she still moves all over the place..but for the most part, she's been quiet until I actually make her move...which is unnerving. This Tuesday, I made the same comment again, so she did a non stress test and Olivia looked great. However, after she saw the level of amniotic fluid, it completely explains WHY Olivia hasn't been moving as much...pretty much, the placenta isn't operating quite as well as it should. Not very comforting.
But, we know we have the best care possible and this baby has been prayed over more than any other baby on the planet! Speaking of....we met with our future pediatrician, Dr. O'Hern, last night and we are so happy. He prayed over Olivia and the birth and everything...and it was such an amazing prayer.
So, stay tuned to see if our next post is that of a birth story/birth announcement!
Meanwhile, here are some of the latest ultrasound pictures!
